In a world where the safety of women continues to be a major concern, it is inspiring to witness initiatives that not only recognize the issue but take concrete steps towards making a difference. The Sakshi Suraksha Welfare Foundation, with its commitment to safeguarding and empowering women, has been instrumental in offering free self-defense workshops to young women. Their recent event at Gyanodaya College in Neemuch is a testament to this commitment.

Addressing the Need for Self-Protection: Foundation Secretary, Vinod Ahirwar, captured the essence of the initiative by stressing the need for girls to resist unwanted advances and learn critical self-protection measures. With over 400 girl students participating, the workshop was far from just another event on campus. It was a movement, a step towards a safer environment for our young women.

Expert Training for Real-Life Scenarios: Guided by martial arts expert Vikas Sharma and his colleague Arjun Pandit, the students were imparted with not just theoretical knowledge, but real-world, actionable skills. Trainers Ashish Chauhan and Shelendra Yadav further enhanced the training with practical martial arts punch sessions.

The highlight of the workshop was the role-playing segment led by Vikas Sharma and Sunil Patel. It’s one thing to be told about dangerous situations, but entirely another to be put in a simulated environment where one has to act. This segment ensured that the girls didn’t just hear about self-defense, but they lived it, experienced it, and more importantly, learned from it.

Community Involvement and Support: It’s worth noting the community involvement in making this workshop a success. From Foundation President Santosh Chopra’s poignant reminder of incidents like Nirbhaya to MMA Neemuch’s leadership and college educators, the support was overwhelming. Such collective endeavors reiterate the fact that when a community comes together for a cause, change is inevitable.

A Call for More: The students’ reaction post-training speaks volumes about its effectiveness. Describing it as ‘unprecedented,’ many expressed their gratitude and voiced the need for more in-depth training. When the recipients of a program immediately ask for more, it’s a clear sign of its success and impact.

Final Thoughts: The Sakshi Suraksha Welfare Foundation’s initiative at Gyanodaya College is a beacon of hope in these challenging times. It sends out a strong message that every girl has the right to defend herself and that she can be equipped with the skills to do so. Let’s hope such workshops become a norm rather than the exception, making our society a safer place for all.

If you or someone you know would benefit from a self-defense workshop, please reach out to organizations like Sakshi Suraksha Welfare Foundation. Remember, knowledge is power, and the more we equip ourselves, the safer we become.
